Our MIM shearing combs and cutters use the universal shearing head standard and are compatible with Lister Star, Legend, and Liberty; Heiniger Xtra and Evo; Oster ShearMaster and Clipmaster; and most other professional shearing machines that use standard-width combs and cutters. No modification required — simply clip in and go.
What is MIM powder metallurgy and why does it matter for shearing blades?
MIM (Metal Injection Molding) is an advanced manufacturing process that produces blades with superior density, uniform hardness (HRC 60-62), and exceptional edge retention compared to traditional stamped blades. SUMTHIN operates its own in-house MIM facility — one of very few blade manufacturers worldwide with this capability. The result: sharper edges out of the box, longer runs between sharpening, and more consistent cuts across the entire comb width. Learn about our MIM process.
Which A5 blade sizes do you recommend for horse clipping?
For equine clipping, the #10 blade (1.5mm) is the most versatile — ideal for bridle paths, muzzles, fetlocks, and general body clipping. Use #7F (3.2mm) for trace and blanket clip lines. For full body clips in winter, start with #3F (13mm) or #4F (9.5mm) depending on desired coat length. The #40 (0.25mm) is reserved for surgical prep only.
