Best Clipper Blades for
Shih Tzu Grooming
Shih Tzus have a luxurious double coat that grows very long if left unclipped. While show dogs maintain a floor-length coat, most pet Shih Tzus are kept in a "puppy cut" or "teddy bear" clip for practical daily care. The coat is dense and mats easily without regular brushing and professional grooming.
Recommended Blade Sizes for Shih Tzu
All blades below use the universal A5 snap-on system, compatible with Andis, Oster, Wahl KM series, and most professional pet clippers. Manufactured with MIM powder metallurgy (HRC 60-62) for superior edge retention.

Shih Tzu Grooming Tips
Shih Tzus have flat faces — work very carefully around the nose and eyes. Many groomers scissor the face instead of using a blade.
The "puppy cut" with a #5F on the body and scissored round face is the most requested Shih Tzu style.
Pay extra attention to the belly and armpit areas where mats form fastest. Use a #10 for sanitary and paw pad cleanup.
Shih Tzu eyes are prominent and sensitive — always clip away from the eyes, never toward them.
Ceramic blades are recommended for Shih Tzu faces due to reduced heat buildup around the sensitive eye area.
Ceramic Blades — Cooler, Longer-Lasting
Our zirconia ceramic blades stay 75% cooler than steel — ideal for sensitive Shih Tzu skin. Same A5 snap-on fit, 5× longer edge life.Compare ceramic vs steel →
